The engine is generally considered to be the heart of a vehicle. Its design requires a balance between peak performance and torque and the lowest possible consumption and emissions. Modern engines are precision work - just like every single replacement part from febi.
For vehicles with timing belt drive, febi offers a comprehensive range of wear parts in OE matching quality, including timing belts. They combine the characteristics of a timing chain and an auxiliary belt (flat belt). On the inside of the belt are teeth made of abrasion-resistant rubber or plastic, which engage in a special gear wheel.
Quality by Conviction
Due to their design, timing belts have various advantages over timing chains in some engine designs. An example of such is due to the sudden pressure build-up and very high dynamic stresses which occur. Chain drives are too stiff for this type of drive and snap because of the high load peaks. Thanks to the positive fit of the teeth, higher forces can be transmitted since the teeth make slippage impossible. Importantly: the quality of the timing belt must be flawless.
Timing belts from febi are therefore intensively tested. Our quality management tests the timing belts offered for various requirements and loads, e.g. fitting accuracy, dimensional accuracy, material quality, and tensile strength.
