In the combustion engine, a large part of the energy contained in the fuel is converted into heat. To prevent the engine from overheating and causing serious damage to the mechanics, the engine cooling system must effectively dissipate this heat into the environment. Part of the heat transported by the cooling system is used to raise the temperature inside the vehicle as required.

A perfectly functioning cooling system is a primary prerequisite for optimum operation of the engine. The right anti-freeze agent makes a key contribution towards the reliable functioning of the engine cooling system under all operating and weather conditions. Cooler anti-freeze agents from febi are precisely matched to the special requirements of the vehicle manufacturer and offer reliable protection from damages caused by freezing, corrosion and cavitation.

More than just anti-freeze

Vehicle coolants are a mixture of water and anti-freeze concentrate. The ideal mixing ratio is 1:1, which offers frost-protection to -36° C.

The maximum possible frost protection to approximately -52° C is provided by a mixing ratio of 2:1 (concentrate:water). Pure anti-freeze agent reduces the performance capabilities of the cooling system by 50% compared to the 1:1 mixture.

Anti-freeze concentrates also contribute toward raising the boiling point, which protects the engine from overheating in summer. With a ratio of 1:1 of water and concentrate, the boiling point of the cooling is approximately 107° C.
